You know, I'm really glad I've done this, I was so sure I'd spent most of August asleep!
I also had a whole lot of lovely post in August - my bee blocks (which I will share later on), my Japanese Scrap Bag for the Eternal Maker / Pings and Needles Competition, and some lovely birthday treats including this selection of wonderful handmade pressies too.
L-R Pins from mum, Pincushion, Needle case and birds from Mimi, Blue Lady pincushion from Judith, Whack of red pincushion from Susan, Hexie monkey mugrug from Judith H, card by my mate Alison (who did the blog header narcoleptic in a cupboard picture for me) |
Also in August I completed my ridiculous self imposed challenge from this post and have concluded that in actual fact it is much cheaper for me to buy a little bit of fabric when ever I want to than it is for me to force myself not to buy at all and then "treat" myself after 5 weeks of abstinence...
I would like to say that I completed my "learn and practice sewing zippers" challenge, but I think there's a ton more practice to do on that one before I can cross it off the list...
And finally, I've embarked on another self imposed challenge, perhaps less ridiculous than my usual challenges, and certainly tougher than most. One week ago today I became an ex smoker... If you want me I'll be climbing the walls!
Congratulations on the quit smoking. Save the money you would have spent on ciggies and spend it on fabric. That has to be a good incentive. Love your August completions and still totally in love with your solids swap makes.
ReplyDeleteWell done Sarah - a great month for you.
ReplyDeleteWow, you've certainly been busy!! Lovely projects :)
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on quitting smoking! :)

Congratulations on becoming an ex-smoker - I'm with Susan, put it in a pot and spend it at the end of every month or so...you'll have wonderful post!! You've done lots of great sewing this month - far more than me...I'll have to catch up this month!!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovelies! Good luck with quitting smoking. Chief gave it up just as he met me. He had a quit smoking counscellor and he said that's what made the difference to him. I was always the smug one that said I'd never tried smoking because why would anyone want to stick something in their mouth and set light to it. But then I trained as a fire eater and can't say that anymore!
ReplyDeleteWay Hay! Congrats on surviving a week! Big hugs from me! And you've had a really productive month too! Your innocent quilt is one of my favs. Keep going my friend! Jxo
ReplyDeleteyes, that's a great move to quit smoking. This time next month it'll be 5 years since I stopped, and I feel much better for it! If you need any moral support at any time just drop me an email :)
ReplyDeleteDo we need to vote on the August thing you've entered? Let me know if so!
lovely August finishes and congrats on quitting smoking.
ReplyDeleteYou've done lots and lots! So much more than me! I really like your picture montages, may need to 'borrow' that idea!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the non smoking and you can always take up rock climbing and install hand and foot holds up the walls!!! hehe! ;)
I really like the cushion cover you made, such pretty colours!
ReplyDeleteLove the innocent quilt too :-)
Well done on stopping smoking, the first week is the hardest, keep going, it does get easier
Great month, jealous of your scrap bag and if you ever want another ciggie, just imagine setting fire to a FQ every time (OK smoking isn't quite that expensive - but it should be!!) xxx
ReplyDeleteWell, you did get a lot done in August. I love the solids cushion.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with quitting smoking. You know it makes sense!
Aw, lookee that scrap bag :-) lookee all those projects & pressies & Stuff! And no more fagaroonies.
ReplyDeleteBlimey-o-Riley Sarah you'll be a Saint Soon ;-)
What a great August you had... and congratulations on the "ex-smoker" status. :)
ReplyDeleteex-smoker=happier eventually! good work!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a great mosaic and you have done a lot in August! Especially quitting smoking, it is very hard to do, good for you.
ReplyDeleteGood for you - keep up the good work on giving up smoking and all these lovely projects. Great swag you have there - evidence of much love coming you way!
ReplyDeleteThere's always good stuff on your blog! love the blue/green pillow and the colors of the hexagon quilt make it exceptional. I can sympathize with the problem of quitting smoking as someone near and dear was a heavy smoker who finally managed to quit. It's tough but worth it. Hang in there!
ReplyDeletebest, nadia
Well done sis, always knew you had it in you to be a quitter!
ReplyDeleteJust catching up! Yeay for stopping smoking...how much is a pack these days? half a yard of designer print surely?! :)
ReplyDeleteImpressive production for August too, you should start a business :)

Catching up on my reading now-- Yay! I love both of your mosaics-- total awesomeness!! Happy belated birthday!! (I somehow missed it). Kudos to you for quitting smoking. I've been trying to switch over to e-cigarettes (which have just nicotine and vapor), but you have to recharge them and they haven't been working very well (re-charging, that is). But that is huge!
ReplyDeleteGotta go-- the little guy has just woken-- more later!
