Happy Easter! Have some cake...

Well, this post is going to be mostly photos you've already seen, so I thought our Easter cake would at least be different....

Remember I did my Joining in post, where I admitted to a few WIPs and announced intentions of finishing them in line with Rhondas finish along?  Well, I didnt.  Not a single one.  Didnt ever attempt to to be entirely honest...  I dont know... I just had so much other stuff to do!

Towards the end of last year I was really struggling with no sewing mojo...  Just didnt seem to be able to get anything done.  This year started with mums visit and the two of us spending a few weeks in the cupboard.  Suffice to say my sewing mojo came back in abundance.  But did I remember about my finish along?  Did I bugger, I started half a dozen new, more exciting (to me) things instead.

first quarter 2012

Of course, this leaves me here at the start of the second quarter with the same wips, and a few more for good measure...  I'm not entirely sure what I should pick for this quarter.  I'm sorely tempted just to list one thing, then I might actually get to join in, do my "finish" and still mess about meantime with new things....  But no, that would be too easy...

So, I still want to finish the Not so hidden Stars.

And I still want to do my own bee month (last august!) quilt, so lets aim for having my own two blocks done and the borders on all the blocks...  This was the inspiration mosaic for my blocks.  Still dont know what I'm going to do....

Bee

It would also be nice to get Stained II finished, otherwise this QAL could be the longest and slowest in history...

Also, I hope to get at least 1 out of the 3 planned mini quilts done.
And I hope to get 1 at worst, all 3 at best, of the quilts done for my bestie.

And I think that that is more than enough really, innit?!

Hope you've all had a lovely Easter break and still have room for a wee bit more chocolate.

  1. Sarah you are going to be very busy - you'll have to take some on the journey to London and back again!

  2. Love what you make always - who cares if it was what you were planning on making!

  3. Follow where your inspiration is, not what's on a list. This is supposed to be fun and mentally stimulating/healing, not work.
I just scrolled up and down through your post several times just to stare at your eye candy photos. You make beautiful things, my dear.

  4. Making what you feel like and not what you intend to is often the way to go. You have more fun that way and don't feel stuck =D

  5. That is the trouble - there are always so many Start A Longs..........

  9. Oooooh Cake! :) Happy Easter Sweetie! Make what makes you happy, clearly does you good, given all the beautiful things you have made :) We can't all be focused on one thing at time, but we can concentrate on what we want to when we want to :) Spoken by a true quilting butterfly!

  10. Always room for more chocolate! Although I wish someone would invent a Pringles egg. I love that stars quilt, would love to see it finished!

  11. I go through stages if ennui as well. I have so many tops, without finishes, just tops. I could be so prolific if I just got half of them finished!

    Love your work, truly!

  12. Always room for chocolate!
Well that's a big enough FAL list, you are bound, by the law of averages, to finish one - Happy Easter xxx

  15. I would love some of your cake! I think that you have a nice list of things to work on but no one said we couldn't start things too.

  16. I'm happy to be part of your long QAL! (I finally got more bobbins so I can use black thread! Hopefully some blocks will be assembled soon!)

My advice: Do what works for you and makes you happy - sometimes that will be finishing an ongoing project and sometimes that will be starting a gorgeous new one!

  17. Oooo I so love your mosaic, especially the cushion with the raindow circles (especially love that they go in different directions ;) ). You're bound to get loads done next quarter, it just may not be the things on your list :) x

  18. I can't believe you're debating what to do next - there is surely only one priority! ;)
Like how you put the cake in soft focus...food porn!

  19. Hey chick! That cake looks delicious! Is it carrot b,a.c?? I've got an idea on your/our brit bee quilt. Layout all the blocks and then see if there's an obvious 'gap' for a particular style of block (if you haven't already tried this - but being the savvy gal that you are you probably have!). I'm just looking for an excuse to see all our blocks together - hint, hint!!! Jxo

  21. Yummy cake. As for what to finish first - well pick the one you most want to finish, first and go from there. Just enjoy the journey and don't feel pressured to do all of them in 3 months. Di xo

  22. Your stained quilt is very beautiful (not sure if "stained" is the kindest description?!) The colours work really well together. It's not a type of quilting I've seen before (fairly new to quilts) but it's certainly something I'm going to have to investigate to see if I can make my own. Got the wants now!

  23. The stained glass quilt is beautiful! It is very monochrome yet not colourless. You've selected the fabrics very well, congratulations! I also like your Miss Elliecat. The pic with her mouth hanging open because you'd lost the photos was hilarious. Well not the picture but the explanation.
