first tick (not the wee beastie kind)

Yay!  A proper tick on my list!  I've been trying to do a little every day, what's more, I've been stopping the second I make a mess of things and putting whatever I've messed up away, then doing a different project for the rest of that day.  Goodness knows I have enough projects on the go, which is saying something when you take into account how often I mess up...  But I think its been working though.  There are a few things I feel have moved forward a fraction, and I have my first list finish.  I'm coming out of the slump...

So, what am I gibbering about?  I've done the bag I promised for my sister-in-law.  Its a Lisa Lam pattern.

I love the print she chose, it's called "out to lunch" and is a reproduction Tamis Keefe print on a linen blend from Michael Miller.   I had a wee bit of help from the ladies at Brit Quilt to tell me the size of an i-phone so I could do a pocket inside to fit!  Not a big fan of the i-stuff here...  my old bog standard mobile still wont go on-line or send photos up here so I don't see the point in getting a fancy new one!  Anyway.  Its all wrapped up and in the envelope and taped up, and ready to post first thing tomorrow, and I've just remembered that when I was photographing it I found a couple of threads I'd forgotten to sew in.  
And promptly forgot to sew them in then too.  

Bugger.  

Wonder if my brother can be cajoled into wielding a needle?

    And it is a lovely tick at that! Great fabric too! Your brother will probably do what himself would do which is trim all the thread ends flush and wonder why this is a bad thing!

    That's a beautiful bag. I always notice loose threads after I've taken a pic.
    Good on you for your tick. I think I need to try cleaning up as soon as I make a mess too, not much fun but it would be so much easier in the long run.

    What a stunning bag - hoping I can intercept the Royal Mail but doubting it very much! Good choice of fabric and Lisa Lam is ace too!

    Like your idea of progressing your work - that is usually what stops my progress - something I'm frightened of or a mess up!

    the bag is wonderful and I love the fabrics your SIL selected !! She will love it! When I first read the title of your post, I thought of ticks (like the kind your dog gets when they play outside) and then I thought of a tic like an involuntary movment, duh-- but now I get it!! congrats on completing a project on your list!! I would be proud of this finish.

    I like the sound of that? I keep thinking I want to try making a bag at some point... I know a lot of people who would like one! ... I've had a soft spot for bags since I bought a lovely Lulu Guiness bag called "The Cat That Got The Cream" for my mum and I tried putting it over my arm and thought "wow, that's really nice how it just hugs your side" lol... how difficult are bag patterns generally?

    And haha, the number of times I'm talking to a caller at work and am describing the tick boxes on a form, and I remember to call them check boxes because that's Americans call 'em, and then I say "so you tick the check box" and get a puzzled silence on the other end of the phone ... well I always use the phrase "just put a tick in the box!" Oh, the joys of languages!

    I love the bag and the print is wonderful. I know that my brothers are useless with needles, I recall spending my teenage years sewing buttons on for them and repairing their favourite clothes. Maybe yours is different?

    Oh, that's fab, I LOVE that print and it's perfect on that bag. I think you might have to talk your brother through the steps on the phone, but it should be possible...he'll think you're bonkers though, I'm not sure men understand the horror of loose threads :) x
